It all started in 2022, when our founder was taking his evening stroll down at a local beach and he noticed the levels of waste that had accumulated throughout the day. After pondering what would incentivise people to help keep the beach clean from plastic and other refuse, he realised a reward based beach cleaning solution could be the answer!
This answer led to a revelation – the emphasis that many of us could make a significant contribution in reducing the waste on our public beaches, increasing your exposure to nature and receiving rewards that would also boost our wellbeing.
As with many great ideas, MyBeach was a conversation that started between like minded individuals and developed into an awesome app based initiative that provides a solution to an ever growing problem on the beaches within the UK.

Cleaning beaches really makes a difference
Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. (OSPAR, 2009)
Approx 5,000 items of marine plastic pollution have been found per mile of beach in the UK. (Marine Conservation Society, 2016)

At the end of your litter picking session, treat yourself by exchanging the points you’ve just earned for a coffee or a cheeky ice-cream at the beach. We’ve partnered up with a wide range of businesses to offer you online mental health seminars, yoga lessons on the beach, surf lessons, wind-surfing lessons, kite surfing lessons, RNLI tours, discounts at sustainable cafés and restaurants, and so much more! Just check your points and our list of offers to choose the perfect reward for you.
Keep your eyes peeled for our end-of-year competition, where our most dedicated Beach Carers and Couriers get the opportunity to win a range of further prizes. Become a Beach Hero and you could score a delicious, organic meal at your local sustainable restaurant for the whole family!
Feeling extra generous? Pick your favourite charity when you sign up and opt to donate your points to them – we’ll take care of the rest.
Finished your litter picking session? Use MyBeach to arrange for the nearest available Courier to pick up the rubbish from you. They will take it directly to a recycling station, so you can rest assured that whatever can be recycled won’t end up in landfill.
Don’t fancy doing litter picking? Get involved in keeping your beach clean by becoming a Beach Courier instead – you’ll collect the rubbish from the Beach Carers and take it to the nearest recycling station. Own a small sustainable business and want to participate? Your shop/café/restaurant/yoga studio could graduate to a recycling station and a hub for planetary goodness.
Share the love. Register your school, walking club, boat club, beach club, book club, secret club or your whole family as Beach Carers. We even have an under 12s Little Litter Club. Whatever shape and colour your group comes in, you belong here.
